Tossing And Turning
Sleep was elusive that night. The pictures of Lisa and Mark’s expressions at the hospital kept coming back to me. My head was full of questions, like leaves in a storm. Should I wait it out or go straight to Lisa? Doubt became stronger with every turn, dragging me more away from sleep. My head worried what the answers could disclose, but my heart longed for answers. The night was tense and full of anxiety.

A Call Gone Unanswered
I thought that the best course of action would be to give them a call the next morning. My fingers were unsteady when I dialed Lisa’s number.
Every ring that went unanswered seemed to reflect my mounting anxiety. One part of me feared what I might hear, while the other part hoped she would pick up, ready to clear the air. It wasn’t shocking when her voicemail sounded, but it left a lingering unease, a stillness that spoke louder than words.
