Nadya married Marcos Gutierrez in 1996, the year that she graduated from Mt. San Antonio College with her psychiatric technician license. In addition, she continued to work at Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, California, a psychiatric facility. The job was satisfying, but it wasn’t easy, and it was even harmful to her. Nadya’s primary objective was to start her own family, but she also wanted to have a decent job. However, something unpleasant happened at her worksite, and her life had become a long roller-coaster ride as a result.

Nadya Suleman was working in a psychiatric facility when she was caught in the middle of a sad incident on September 18th, 1999. A riot broke out at the facility due to the presence of twenty patients, and Nadya attempted to intervene right away. During the commotion, one of the female patients threw a wooden desk into the air, which landed on Nadya’s back and caused her herniated disc injury. Workers’ compensation provided some help, and Nadya was awarded $170,000, but the money only helped her get by for a while and was the least of her troubles.
