Movie Distraction Fails
In an attempt to distract herself, Emily slipped on her earphones and started a movie. She craved an escape, but each time her eyes caught the cascade of long hair drifting into her view, irritation bubbled to the surface once again. “Could you move it, please?” she muttered under her breath, fully aware the girl couldn’t hear her. Frustration mounting, she flicked through channels in search of something engrossing, but nothing could untangle her thoughts from the annoyance right in front of her.

The girl in front flipped her hair once more, the silky strands tumbling over the back of her seat with deliberate flair. She snickered, exchanging a private joke with her travel companion, clearly entertained by her own antics. Emily observed in silence, her irritation simmering as their laughter grew louder. With each chuckle, her patience frayed, and her determination to remain composed began to falter. If the girl wanted to play games, Emily could play, too.
