Playing Innocent
“Oh, my apologies,” Sarah said, her tone laced with feigned innocence. “Your hair brushed against the tray and caused the spill. Completely unintentional.” She gestured subtly toward the strands, which still trailed across her space, her voice light and measured, as if merely noting an unfortunate mishap. Meanwhile, the girl in front paused, processing Sarah’s remark. Her expression wavered, caught between brushing it off or doubling down on her attitude.

The girl shook her head, unwilling to accept any fault. “Why can’t people respect my space? This is unbelievable,” she complained, flipping her hair back with an exasperated huff. Her tone carried a hint of entitlement, as though the world existed solely to cater to her comfort. Sarah bit her lip, deciding it was best to let her vent. Maybe, just maybe, it would help her become a little more mindful of those around her.
