Sensing the storm
The children, alert to the impending storm, peered over the corner from the corridor. Curious and a little scared, their gazes flitted between Sarah and her sister. Sensing their presence, Sarah gently waved them aside in an attempt to get them out of the way of this clash. However, their ears stayed attentive, vigilant, and full of inquiries they dared not ask aloud.

The confrontation begins
Sarah was standing in the living room with her arms crossed over her chest in a protective position. As her sister’s remarks cut through the increasing distance, her lips were forced into a tight line. With each phrase like a well-aimed arrow, her sister yelled, “You’ve been in their life, but you’re not their mom.” Despite her thoughts screaming differently, Sarah remained silent and refused to be provoked.
