I stood at the microphone, inhaled deeply, and then began to speak. As I gazed out at the sea of faces, some happy, others questioning, a silence descended upon the room, and I could feel every eye on me. The air was heavy with expectancy. I was both anxious and thrilled to finally speak in front of everyone.
