Madelyn’s Charms
Every time I asked Madelyn about these strange happenings, she would give me her dazzling smile. She would say, “Oh, I’m sure it’s nothing,” in a silky voice. I would nod, not knowing if I should believe her when she said, “You know how things can move around on their own.” For a brief while, the smile seemed to ease my concerns.
