My goal was to use every compliment she loved as an opportunity to make fun of her. In my opinion, this was justice rather than merely retribution. She would be prevented from enjoying her purported metamorphosis by calculated provocations. I had to proceed cautiously, relying on their arrogance and the tendency of the world to transform awe into derision.
