There aren’t many films as memorable and legendary as Starship Troopers. In case you didn’t already know, it was based on a novel of the same name. It was first seen as a commercial flop. Even though it did not do well at the box office, the film has become a cult favorite. But, in the meanwhile, what have the actors and actresses been up to? Some of them went on to have successful careers, while others were not able to outperform their parts in the film. Let us find out which stars rose to prominence and which chose to remain unnoticed.

What The Cast Of Starship Troopers Is Doing Today
Casper Van Dien As Johnny Rico
The film just would not have been the same without an all-American main actor. Casper Van Dien was the ideal choice for the role of Johnny Rico because of his excellent looks, obvious charisma, and “good old boy” demeanor. The actor was successful in presenting the Arachnid slayer as a devoted and focused guy with the courage and loyalty that soldiers are supposed to have. He also gave the character a lot of depth, emotion, and comedy. It’s no surprise that the audience fell in love with him!

The audience loved the actor in the film, but his acting career did not take off as anticipated. He was cast in Tarzan and the Lost City, but the film was a failure. The same may be said about his comeback to the Starship Troopers series in the lukewarm third edition. He eventually got a good job after struggling to get back into the swing of things. He landed the part of Johnny Cage in Mortal Kombat: Legacy’s second season! The character, like Casper, is always searching for ways to prove himself and have another chance at fame.

Brenda Strong As Captain Deladier
Captain Deladier, Carmen’s employer in the navy, was played by this woman. The guy is excellent at teamwork and even rescues the ship on many occasions. Her leadership abilities are unrivaled, as she leads the team with enthusiasm. Unfortunately, she dies early in the picture. Her last words had been an instruction to Zander Barcalow and Carmen Ibanez as they remained by her side, proving she is a compassionate leader. That is until she ordered them to “abandon the ship” to reach safety.

Even after Starship Troopers, her acting career remained constant and reliable. She starred in Desperate Housewives and earned two Emmy nods for her work throughout the show’s 179 episodes. She portrayed Mary Alice Young in the soap opera, in case you didn’t know. Aside from the program, she has also appeared in Fear the Walking Dead and Supergirl. Aside from the aforementioned initiatives, she has also worked on yoga therapy DVDs targeted at couples and women attempting to conceive.

Amy Smart As Pilot Cadet Stack Lumbrezer
Amy Smart is worth noting although she only had a minor part in the film. She portrayed Stack Lumbrezer, Carmen Ibanez’s friend and roommate. The protagonist is a determined young trainer who is solely concerned with achieving her objectives. She is serious about her job and copilots with Carmen Ibanez without issue. We also got to witness how well she performs her job, which leads to her promotion to lieutenant and assignment as a pilot on board the new Athena.

Her acting career did not take off immediately after she finished the film. In reality, it didn’t take off until she starred in the comedy Road Trip in 2001. Her fame rose further when she starred in Rat Race and subsequently in Scotland, PA, an independent version of Macbeth. Aside from these ventures, she has worked on two successful films. She was cast in The Butterfly Effect with Ashton Kutcher, and subsequently in Starsky & Hutch.

Blake Lindsley As Katrina McIntire
Blake Lindsley portrayed Katrina McIntyre, a girl-next-door type who was very shy. She had no ambitions of becoming a soldier and simply joined the Federal Service to get a permit to have children and start her own family. Aside from that, she seems to have a crush on the protagonist. After all, she is distraught when he is whipped in the aftermath of Breckinridge’s death. Unfortunately, she dies in the film at the hands of a warrior insect while attempting to flee the fight.

Neil Patrick Harris As Carl Jenkins
Neil Patrick Harris was already a well-known face by the time he was featured in the picture. After all, he portrayed Doogie Howser in the late 1980s and early 1990s TV programs of the same name. The production provided him with a great chance to demonstrate his acting abilities as an adult. It was a pivotal early role for him, according to his admirers. When he appeared in Star Trek, he was cast as the individual who discovers not only the existence but also the vulnerabilities of Brain Bug.

The film may not have helped his career, but we can’t dispute that he performed an amazing job as a star in it. We’re curious whether his character’s clairvoyant skills helped him predict that he’d become more famous by portraying Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother. This role catapulted him to Hollywood fame. In addition to this, he portrayed Count Olaf in A Series of Unfortunate Events and Desi Collings in Gone Girl. The actor has had a successful career in theater, television, and the big screen.

Jake Busey As Ace Levy
Was there any question that Jake Busey, the son of Gary Busey, would become a star? The actor spent a large portion of his youth on film sets and learned that he enjoys performing. In 1978, he made his film debut in Straight Time. He got even more parts in the 1980s and 1990s. He had appearances in sci-fi films such as Starship Troopers and Contact in 1997. In the former, he portrayed Ace Levy, a sassy soldier who fought with Johnny Rico in a few fights.

In addition, he had a handful of brief but noteworthy cameos in L.A.’s Finest and Stranger Things.

Tami-Adrian George As Djana’D
Tami-Adrian George brought Diana’D to life. In the film, she played an ambitious recruit in the mobile army. She intended to become a politician once she completed her training. People prefer to blame her for the death of her fellow trainee, Breckenridge. A jolt from the training laser prompted her to fire and kill him. She felt so bad about the event that he dropped out of the training program entirely. Unfortunately, that was the final time she appeared in the film.

Tami-Adrian George Today
Tami-Adrian George performed well in the film, but she almost vanished from the acting industry thereafter. She has only ever featured in the credits of two additional films throughout the years. One of them was Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion, a financially successful film. Many people expected her to keep performing and ultimately create a name for herself in the business. She seems to have retired, though. In any case, she is now married to Eric Bruskotter, who portrayed Breckinridge in the film. It’s strange how life works out like way, isn’t it?

Clancy Brown As Sergeant Zim
We can’t imagine anybody else in the role of Sergeant Zim. Clancy Brown was the ideal option because of his physique, height, and deep voice! In Starship Troopers, he portrays the strong guy of Camp Currie who is willing to sacrifice himself to battle the Bugs. Finally, he can apprehend the leader! In addition to this part, he played Viking Lofgren in Bad Boys, Captain Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption, and Kurgan in Highlander.

He has an amazing résumé, but we’re glad to know that he loves all of the characters, no matter how large or little the role!

Dina Meyer As Dizzy Flores
We’re sure it wasn’t easy to portray Johnny Rico’s love interest in the film. Dina Meyer, thankfully, had the guts to portray the role! As Isabella “Dizzy” Flores shown her desire to follow him to the ends of the Earth, she was able to find a balance between “hopeless in love” and “tough as nails.” Even though the character dies in the first film, her star power was so great that fans speculated that she might return for the sequels in some way.

Dina Meyer As Dizzy Flores

Unlike Casper Van Dien, the actress had more popularity after the film! Surprisingly, she appeared to do better in horror than in any other genre. You may recognize her from the Saw films and The Evil Within. She portrayed yet another difficult female lead in the latter. She has also appeared in a variety of television programs, including Castle, CSI, and Friends. In case you were wondering, the star is still working today. She hasn’t shown any indications of slowing down!

Ungela Brockman As Corporal Birdie
Ungela Brockman brought Corporal Birdie to life. Lieutenant Rasczak has a lot of admiration and respect from the Mobile Infantry soldier since he saved her life. She refuses to tolerate any negative comments about him and even slaps Ace in the face when he mocks the cop in front of her. Unfortunately, she loses an arm and is once again rescued by Rasczak. Johnny is ultimately promoted to her job. Later in the film, the protagonist battles and kills the Tanker Bug, who is the source of most of her suffering!

After appearing in Starship Troopers, the actress joined the ranks of those who have almost disappeared from the entertainment industry. Before the sci-fi film, the actress portrayed Angie in the 1995 film Showgirls. Despite being a commercial and critical failure, it is one of her only two previous roles. Mystery Men, a comedy film, is the other. Although Starship Troopers performed better than her previous pictures, it signified her exit from the performing profession.

Ungela Brockman Today
Seth Gilliam As Sugar Watkins
Even though he barely appears halfway through the film, this courageous and devoted Roughnecks soldier made quite an impact on the audience. Sergeant Sugar Watkins faithfully and loyally serves Lt. Jean Rasczak. His bravery had been the focus of his character development. Viewers are usually saddened when they have to say goodbye to this stoic figure, who gives himself away while slaying as many Warrior Bugs as he can. Rico and Ace have the opportunity to flee and survive as a result of his sacrifice.

When he won the part of Sugar Watkins in the film, the actor was a little unknown. Before this picture, he has only had minor roles in five short films. Patrick Muldoon As Zander Barcalow
Patrick Muldoon portrayed Zander Barcalow, a pilot aboard the Rodger Young when it crashed on Planet P in Starship Troopers. He is Johnny Rico’s archrival since they both have a love for Carmen. Throughout the film, Barcalow battles him tooth and claw for her love. Even if he does not have the greatest reputation because of his connection with the main character, it was entertaining to watch him meet his end. Throughout the end, the Brain Bug made up for all he did in the film.

He is a bright professor who teaches philosophy and has a right arm that has been amputated. When the bugs invade the Earth, he is ready to assume leadership. He is a competent soldier and one of the film’s bravest characters. He finally begs Rico to kill him as soon as he falls into the sandpit. Rico decides to give him his final request, despite his displeasure.

Marshall Bell As General Owen
Marshall Bell portrayed General Owen, a cowardly general who is always there to offer comedic relief in an otherwise serious film. In Starship Troopers, he is a timid officer assigned to Whiskey Outpost who has a surprisingly forceful and arrogant demeanor. Unfortunately, the outpost was erroneously believed to be Arachnid-free. The Warrior Bugs tracked down an officer who had been killed in an ambush. A dead Hopper Bug squashed him and killed him as he begged for compassion.

Eric Bruskotter As Breckinridge
Eric Bruskotter created the character of Breckinridge. He was a normal citizen before enlisting in the Federal Service’s Mobile Infantry. He is a large and muscular trainee from a farming background. Unfortunately, he is not the smartest member of the bunch. During an intensive training session, he has a helmet malfunction, causing him to remove his helmet. Unfortunately, his demise occurs entirely by chance when Diana’D accidentally pulls the gun on him. Rico is severely punished for his death.

Matt Levin As Kitten Smith
Smith “Kitten” Alphard, played by Matt Levin, is another soldier in the Mobile Infantry. He attends Camp Currie with Johnny Rico for training. Even though the character is not the main focus of the film, it serves as an excellent example of the military variety. The guy aspires to be an author and enjoys reading, but he joins the military out of moral duty to serve his nation. He does not survive, but we believe Matt Levin did a great job portraying him.

The actor has stayed in the drama genre, portraying law enforcement officers in TV series such as CSI, Quantico, Criminal Minds, and Numb3rs.

Dean Norris As The Commanding Officer
IIf you look at this actor’s filmography, you will see that he is the ideal choice to portray the commanding officer. Dean Norris seems to have no trouble portraying a strong guy or a leader. At the time, he was one of the Starship Troopers cast members with a long list of credits. Even though the character has noble intentions, he has earned the audience’s wrath. After all, he is the one who is punishing Rico with 10 lashings!

You’ve probably seen Dean Norris in a role as a law enforcer at some time. Before Starship Troopers, he appeared in Total Recall, Lethal Weapon 2, and Terminator 2. However, he is most recognized for his role as DEA Agent Hank Schrader in the television series Breaking Bad. He has gotten many compliments for his depiction of this character! He also worked on Evan Almighty, The Big Bang Theory, and CSI, in addition to the aforementioned films. He and his wife now reside in California, where they founded the Norris Performing Arts Center.

Robert David Hall As The Recruiting Sergeant
When asked about the part, Robert David Hall said that he is “proud” of it and “more humorous” about it. The actor did a fantastic job portraying this guy, who is stuck in a rut. He is the one who informs Ibanez that she made the correct decision by joining. He is also eagle-eyed and recognizes Jenkins’s potential early on, so he backs him up. Because of his handicap, the character still harbors resentment and claims that enlisting in the army reminds him of “the guy he is now.”

He is a superb musician who can play the piano, guitar, and mandolin in addition to acting. In addition, he composes, records, and performs his music!

Rue McClanahan As The Biology Teacher
We’re glad Rue McClanahan appeared in Starship Troopers, even if it wasn’t the most glamorous role in the picture. From the 1970s through the 1990s, she was a household name in Hollywood. You couldn’t have missed her in the movie if you were living back then! She was cast as a biology instructor, but it was fun to see her with glasses, a lab coat, and a cane. While a teacher, she walks about the room, keeping an eye on the pupils as they work on their assignments.

Rue McClanahan As The Biology Teacher
Rue McClanahan – Deceased
Sadly, her acting career was cut short when she died in 2010. She was 76 years old at the time of her death. This was heartbreaking news, but we are relieved that she had a successful career throughout the years. The actress won an Emmy for her role in Golden Girls in 1987. From 1985 until 1992, she appeared in the comedy. Although her career stagnated following the program, she continued to perform throughout the 2000s. In reality, she was still working as an actress a year before her death.

Christopher Curry As Mr. Rico
Christopher Curry is Mr. Rico, the main character’s father, in the film. Initially, the character voiced concern over his son’s choice to join the Federal Service. It’s easy to tell that he’s a haughty and obstinate guy. He also threatens to sever Johnny’s ear if he departs. Even though he did not have much screen time in the film, he played an essential part. Johnny Rico, after all, would not have existed if it weren’t for him!

Christopher Curry Today
The actor, who is now in his 70s, has yet to declare his retirement. Isn’t that impressive? However, he has not featured in any projects since his appearance in Sully in 2016. Aside from that film, he has mostly worked on television projects during the last decade. Perhaps you’ve seen him on programs like Castle, Glee, and BlackBoxTV! We are not surprised, given his age, that he has subsequently slowed down. In any case, we respect him for his acting abilities.

Lenore Kasdorf As Mrs. Rico
We’ve just spoken about Mr. Rico, therefore it wouldn’t be fair if we didn’t also speak about Mrs. Rico! Starship Troopers, like him, had a small part. She also gets into a dispute with their son when he decides to leave the house. Her approach, though, is gentler than Mr. Rico’s. She tries her hardest to persuade their son to remain, but she ends up upsetting him with her remarks about Carmen. Despite this, it is clear that she loves him.

Lenore Kasdorf As Mrs. Rico
Lenore Kasdof Today
Outside of the film, actress Lenore Kasdof has not worked on anything else. Her performance in the movie was great, but she has a pretty limited filmography. The only other project that she has worked on since then was a 2004 movie called Cellular. In that project, she only played a ticket checker. She seems to have retired after that, and it is difficult to see what she has been getting up to since then. It is clear to us that she enjoys her privacy!

Denise Richards As Carmen Ibanez
Denise Richards is Carmen Ibanez in the film. She is the main character’s high school fling, although she has a completely different personality than Dizzy. While Johnny is being pursued by Dizzy, Carmen is being pursued by him! Johnny chooses to become a military pilot after she does so first. In the end, he establishes himself as an Arachnid killer. The actor did an excellent job of presenting a strong female role who was unflappable and serene. Above all, Carmen Ibanez is confident in her skills and capabilities!

Many believed she was destined for fame. However, the actress got a lot of criticism for her performances following the film. Despite being cast to portray a “Bond girl,” she ultimately dropped out of the business. Her personal life ultimately took precedence over her acting profession. He just stated that he intends to adopt her youngest daughter! Let’s take a closer look at the Star Trek ladies now that we’ve caught up with some of the Starship actors…
